Recently the pressure steam release valve from my Instant Pot went missing. I scoured the kitchen in search of it, but to no avail. In a last ditch effort I went to the compost pail we have right outside our kitchen door to see if it might have accidentally made it into the compost collection. With trepidation (and for good reason, pretty stinky!!) I dumped that bucket into a wheel barrow to rummage through…ugh, I can still recall that smell. Continue reading

Paleo Freezer Stash
When I first suspected that histamine intolerance might be another piece of my wellness puzzle, it felt like yet another food restriction limiting my choices…but discovering how many things freeze well has been the silver lining! The freezer has now become a huge part of my food prep plan! Continue reading
Simple Shallot Gravy
What’s not to love about a rich tasty gravy you can whip up in just a few minutes?! It amps up the flavor of a simple chicken or turkey cutlet or a slab of meatloaf with umami goodness! You don’t need to wait till Thanksgiving to give this a go! Continue reading
Butternut Squash Soup
This delicious dairy free soup is naturally sweet and creamy. It is super easy to make and freezes well. Lately I have been making batches of different creamy veggie soups and freezing them in silicone molds. Once frozen I pop them out and store in ziplock bags in the freezer. Right now I have 4 or 5 different variations in my freezer door which allows me to rotate flavors a little. Continue reading

Garden Update

It is hard to express just how much I love having this 8 x 4 foot raised bed garden my husband built for me last fall! I eat fresh greens from it just about every day, usually for breakfast sautéed with leek greens and shallots…such a great way to start off my day!
The idea for a raised bed garden was inspired Continue reading
One Dish Parchment Bake

After I got my mom hooked on parchment paper, she came up with the idea for this one dish wonder. She often makes pork for my boys when we go to her house for dinner, and pork is just not my best friend…so she started making me my own special one dish meal..which has become a new favorite of mine.
I am having fun playing around with lots of different versions Continue reading
Creamy Veggie Soups
It all started with my creamy cauliflower leek soup….then morphed to include creamy zucchini leek soup and now it is just creamy veggie soup! There are so many variations I don’t stick to just one combo anymore. I love to play with the variety, but the basic formula remains the same. Continue reading
Paleo Travel: Kitchen Tools To Go
I have to give credit where credit is due….my husband came up with the idea to pack a kitchen essentials pouch years ago. For years now we have been renting apartments or houses for our vacations and have discovered that some kitchens are better equipped than others. Continue reading
Pots and Pans: Organization Hacks
I love a good organization hack and of course I am all about sharing a good idea. I saw this a long time ago back when I was clipping magazine pages and dreaming about a new kitchen (yes that was a long time ago). Now that our dream kitchen is a reality, I am slowing implementing all of my ideas. Just ran to the hardware store to buy a spring rod for one of my pots and pan drawers…the lids tuck up front so they are easy to grab, but also out of the way. Love it!
